A medium sized tree with brownish bark flanking longitudinally. Leaves less than 2mm long closely arranged in two rows. Flowers pale yellow. Pod 5-10 of size 1.5 x 2cm.

Khair posts are very durable and are largely used for fencing. It is mostly used for manufacture of catechu (Katha). It is used in printing.
