Flower |
A large tree 12-15 m high, trunk thick, bark ash coloured, smooth. Leaves crowded at the end of the branches 25-45 cm long. Flowers purplish, appearing when the tree is leafless. Drupes reniform, compressed. Bark is useful in skin eruptions, stomachache, toothache and wounds. Leaves used in elephanlianis and ulcers. Fruits used to treat bone fracture. Bark yields a dye used to colour fish nets. |
