Flower

A tree 6-9 m high, trunk straight, bark smooth and pale grey when young, rough and dark when old, branches spreading slender. Leaves 23-40 cm long. The flowers are pleasantly fragrant. The fruit of the tree is large, cylindrical, containing a sticky pulp in which are embedded numerous brown polished seeds.

The pulp from the fruit of the tree is a violent purgative and is used in herbal medicines for constipations, asthma, chest infection, diarrhoea.
